July Reflections - What I Loved, What I Learned & How I Can Improve

Where the hell did July go? It whizzed by in the blink of an eye. I am slowly learning that the more I reflect, the more I learn and the more I want to improve. It's like an ongoing never-ending cycle, but a good one. With each month, comes the need for acceptance in certain areas of life and I discover that there are some areas I have been focusing on, that perhaps I no longer need, or want to change. Things I Loved About July I read a lot of Medium articles, I commented and clapped for those I enjoyed and I now share 5 of my favourite articles each Thursday on various platforms and again on Sundays in my round-up post. https://thisisstillme.medium.com/5-of-my-favourite-articles-on-medium-this-week-with-a-befitting-bonus-article-c2a8c367d770?source=friends_link&sk=f1e5e4cc7239982dddde55affcddc31f https://thisisstillme.medium.com/5-articles-i-read-on-medium-that-inspired-and-motivated-me-to-keep-going-41a5314deff4?source=friends_link&sk=92a565cd3a8e3f2bf1b1788c7c22e7

Charles Allen Jr Is Still Missing - What Do You Think?

AKA Neo Babson Maximus I first heard about this case when I watched an episode of "Disappeared" called Game Over. This was a good few years ago and it has stuck in my mind ever since. Annoyingly, I was unable to find this particular episode available to watch anywhere. Who is Charlie? Charlie Allen Jr has been described as a highly intelligent and fun-loving young man. He excelled at everything he did and a few years before his disappearance, he had been an extremely well-known online gamer, he was known online as "Neo" after a character in his favourite film, The Matrix. Two months before his disappearance, Charlie changed his name legally to Neo Babson Maximus. What happened? On the 11th of October 2007, Charlie was playing tennis with his friend Mason, Charlie invited Mason to a party that evening and they agreed that they would meet at their college campus that night. Later that day, Charlie's sister Britney went on to Facebook to reply to a messa

5 Of My Favourite Ghostly Things To Watch

In search of the supernatural I am a massive fan of horror films, I'm not sure what it is about being scared that I enjoy. I do prefer a good old-fashioned ghost story to a slasher movie, blood and gore do nothing for me, except put me off my food. I find the supernatural intriguing and I am in awe of people that come up with these amazing stories. Insidious There are 4 Insidious films and a quick peek on IMDB tells me there is a 5th in pre-production, which excites me! The first film starts a lot like many horror films, with a family moving into a new home. Their son has an accident in the attic and falls into a coma. His lack of response sends them desperately searching for answers, leading them to Elise Rainier, a psychic who helps them enter the mysterious realm of The Further, to save their son. Insidious has an original storyline, a great cast, is very jumpy and most importantly, scary. I often go back and re-watch the Insidious films. Oculus I've found that no

My favourite detective is back on our screens

I am so happy to see Grace is back on ITV! I was apprehensive when the first book, Dead Simple was brought to our screens last year, but I needn't have worried. They didn't deviate from the storyline and the casting was brilliant. I downloaded the next episode, Looking Good Dead, yesterday morning and hoped for the same, especially as one of my favourite characters, Norman Potting, was about to make an appearance. I was so pleased they had nailed it again, despite knowing the storyline, I was still gripped. Craig Parkinson is a brilliant Norman Potting, I look forward to seeing more of his antics and I am thrilled that I only have to wait until next week for the next installment.

What I'm watching

I've got a list of TV program and film recommendations that goes on forever! Mistresses was one of them and the last couple of weeks, To give myself a breather from Married at First Sight Australia & Real Housewives of Orange, I decided to give one of those recommendations a try. Mistresses follows the lives and loves of four female friends: Katie, a doctor having an affair with a patient; Trudi, a 9/11 widow; Siobhan, a barrister; and Jessica, a commitment phobe who plays the field. The premise is kind of like Sex and the city, however, this was much more realistic and the characters were more relatable. It is brilliantly cast and I found myself completely caught up with the dramas. If you, like me, missed this first time around back in 2008, you can catch all three seasons on BBC iplayer.
